My photo blog is LIVE!

// April 15th, 2005 // 2 Comments » // Photo

I just released my new photo blog! I consider this to be version 1.0 and I’m going to work on it some more, but I’m pleased with the result so far. I submitted the site to photoblogs.org and a few people actually added me to their “favorites” list! Always nice to get comments and recognition. :-)

As you might have noticed, the most recent picture is displayed in the sidebar on the right hand site of this blog.

Will Xbox 360 come in white?

// April 14th, 2005 // 1 Comment » // Gadgets

Here is yet another snippet from Engadget regarding XBox 360. It looks like it might actually be “Apple white”. I think that would be great!

There are none of the usual array of blurry cameraphone pics to back this up, but Eurogamer is claiming that
Microsoft’s next-gen console has been spotted in the UK, and that, get this: it’s white. Or at least it’s
probably going to be white. They’re saying that it could turn out to be silver-colored instead, though if it
were white that would match those leaked controller pics
that surfaced over the weekend (oh, and save your comments about them ripping off Apple, no one owns the color white,
ok?). They’re also confirming that the name for the new console will indeed be called the
Xbox 360 (just like we said it would be), and that it
will have a concave design, stand upright (or at least that you’ll have the option of positioning it that way), and
sport a logo that is a “simple, round nexus” (whatever that means).

Windows crash!

// April 13th, 2005 // 1 Comment » // General

My morning started out great today. I got a “Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close”. It occured in the middle running Windows Update. After 1.5 hours of restarting and virus scanning, I disabled Automatic Updates and also uninstalled a tool called HTTPLook (a HTTP debuging tool), and after that it looks like everything is working again. But I’m not 100% convinced yet, so I’ll make a few more virus scans and reboots just to make sure. Perhaps I should go back too school and become a gardener or something…

My IPod Mini has arrived!

// April 12th, 2005 // 1 Comment » // Gadgets

When Apple finally fixed the battery time to 18 hours and also increased the storage to 6GB I couldn’t resist it anymore. I bought myself a silver IPod Mini 6GB. I also just ordered a Griffin ITrip to be able to use it in my car.

Subversion and Trac

// April 12th, 2005 // No Comments » // .Net

If you are still using Microsoft Visual Source Safe you need to read this badly! I’ve been waiting for Microsoft to release some totally overhauled version of Source Safe. The product has not changed in years and to be honest it really do suck. I have heard from several people that not even Microsoft themselves use it.

I myself recently switched to a superb product called Subversion. Now I can access my code from anywhere and the disconnected model in Subversion (as with cvs) is just great! For users of Source Safe it takes a few hours to get used to the paradigm, but once you’ve gotten past that there is no turning back.

And there is more! If you need a documentation tracker management tool and a web version of you repository, look no further than to Trac! I’ll let the developer describe it for you:

Trac is an enhanced wiki and issue tracking system for software development projects.
Trac uses a minimalistic approach to web-based software project management. Our mission; to help developers write great software while staying out of the way. Trac should impose as little as possible on a teams established development process and policies.
All aspects of Trac have been designed with one single goal, to simplify tracking and communication of software issues, enhancements and monitoring overall progress.

What is Trac?

  • An integrated system for managing software projects
  • An enhanced wiki
  • A flexible web-based issue tracker
  • An interface to the
  • Subversion revision control system
  • Of course both Subversion and Trac is totally free open source software. If you haven’t tried it, download it today and throw out Source Safe! You wont regret it

    Xbox 2 To Be Unveiled on MTV May 12 - Now on slashdot too

    // April 11th, 2005 // No Comments » // General

    Now the news has reached slashdot too. I submitted it like 8 hours ago, but someone else got credit. Guess I wasn’t fast enough.

    An anonymous reader writes “Microsoft confirmed this morning that the Xbox 2 will be revealed on live TV on May 12. MTV will air a half-hour long special to launch the system. ‘It doesn’t make sense to unveil the product behind a closed door, at a trade-only event,’ according to Microsoft corporate VP Peter Moore. ‘We wanted to talk directly to the consumer first.’” More coverage available on GamesIndustry.biz and Press the Buttons.
